If this sounds like you, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here!
Hi! I’m Taylor Joy.
I’m a clinical counseling grad student, author, and podcast host.
I grew up as a missionary kid in Southeast Asia and wrote my first traditionally published book, Hidden in My Heart: A TCK’s Journey Through Cultural Transition, when I was 14. My most recent book, Stop Saying I’m Fine: Finding Stillness When Anxiety Screams, was written mostly in a college dorm during undergrad & my first few years of grad school. It was released in the fall of 2022.
I currently live in Lynchburg, VA and run a small business while working towards my Clinical Mental Health Counseling licensure. I spend most of my time hosting my podcast, Faith & Feelings, writing & creating resources for spiritual & emotional health, and occasionally traveling to speak/facilitate retreats. I am also a contributing writer for Proverbs 31 Ministries.
My passion for this work comes from my own journey through an emotional health crisis at 18. After hitting a wall (emotionally, spiritually, and physically), I started therapy for the first time. I wanted to live life with God, others, and myself, differently. But I had no idea how or what steps to take.
Over the last 7 years, I’ve discovered that real and lasting transformation happens in the small and consistent steps within the contours of our everyday lives. We heal, not by moving away from our pain, but by moving towards it and meeting God and our community in it.
The Christian life not a question of prayer or therapy, but the beautiful interaction of both.
The invitation of Jesus is not to choose faith over feelings, but to learn how to gently hold them together.
